Day 1 Morning: Marina Bay and Gardens

Start your Singapore adventure at the iconic Marina Bay Sands. Even if you're not staying at the hotel, the SkyPark observation deck offers stunning panoramic views of the city skyline. From here, walk across the Helix Bridge to the Merlion Park for the classic Singapore photo opportunity. Continue to Gardens by the Bay, where the futuristic Supertree Grove, the Cloud Forest with its 35-metre indoor waterfall, and the Flower Dome showcase Singapore's commitment to blending nature with urban design. Allow at least 2 hours for the gardens.

Day 1 Afternoon: Cultural Districts

Singapore's cultural districts are a masterclass in diversity within a tiny space. Start in Chinatown, visiting the ornate Buddha Tooth Relic Temple and browsing the heritage shophouses along Pagoda Street. Cross to Little India for the explosion of colours, sounds, and spice aromas around Serangoon Road and the Tekka Centre food court. End at Kampong Glam, the Arab Quarter, where you'll find the impressive Sultan Mosque and the Instagram-worthy Haji Lane with its street art and independent boutiques. Each district offers unique food opportunities.

Day 1 Evening: Hawker Centre Dinner

No visit to Singapore is complete without eating at a hawker centre. These open-air food courts are the soul of Singaporean cuisine and have been recognised by UNESCO as an Intangible Cultural Heritage. Maxwell Food Centre is a great choice for first-timers, home to the legendary Tian Tian Chicken Rice. Lau Pa Sat, a stunning Victorian cast-iron market building, is centrally located and atmospheric. For adventurous eaters, the Old Airport Road Food Centre is where locals eat and offers over 150 stalls. Expect to pay just SGD 3 to 8 per dish for some of the world's best food.

Day 2 Morning: Nature and Wildlife

Singapore may be a city-state, but it takes its green credentials seriously. The Singapore Botanic Gardens, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, is a peaceful oasis that includes the stunning National Orchid Garden with over 1,000 species. For something more adventurous, the Southern Ridges walk connects several parks via elevated walkways through the forest canopy, offering remarkable views of the city and harbour. If you have children, the Singapore Zoo is consistently rated one of the world's best, with its open-concept enclosures and breakfast with orangutans programme.

Day 2 Afternoon: Shopping and Departure

Orchard Road is Singapore's legendary shopping strip, stretching over two kilometres with everything from luxury flagship stores to local boutiques. Ion Orchard and Paragon are standout malls. For more unique shopping, head to Tiong Bahru, Singapore's hippest neighbourhood, with its independent bookshops, specialty coffee roasters, and art galleries set among beautiful Art Deco buildings. Finally, even Singapore's Changi Airport is a destination in itself, featuring the spectacular Jewel complex with its 40-metre indoor Rain Vortex waterfall, gardens, and over 280 shops and restaurants.
